Normandy's answer to the pyramids, this 11th century Benedictine monastery carved out of natural granite is one of France’s—and the world’s—most spectacular sights. On what was once an island separated from the mainland by quicksand shoals, the Bishop of Avranches built a shrine in the 8th century. Later, the original Romanesque church flared up into a Gothic riot of spires and flying buttresses that all seem to swirl and spiral heavenward. Since 1877, a 2,000 yard causeway has connected the mainland and the island’s single main street, thereby permitting visitors to flock to the island in droves.
The original drawing by Ron Colgrove is 40” x 30” and was drawn in pen and ink using a flexible crow quill dip pen taking approximately 80 man-hours. The original was drawn with the intention of silk-screening it to apply water color. It was reproduced by silk-screening onto 24” x 18” water color paper and hand water colored.
Limited edition giclée prints of this silk-screened watercolor are available as an UNFRAMED PRINT on your choice of two mediums: Fine art paper or glossy canvas. This art print usually ships in 5-7 business days after cleared payment.
